Free School Safety Assessment Pilot for K–12 Schools / Districts
For the first time, a limited number of schools / districts can access all four levels of POSI’s Comprehensive Assessment Framework℠ — at no cost.
School safety in America has always been claimed. Now, for a limited group of pioneering school districts, it can be measured.
Protecting Our Students, Inc. (POSI) has opened a free pilot program giving K–12 schools direct access to the complete 4-Level Safety Standard℠ — the national guided self-evaluation framework built on seven years of original research and standardization work. The program is hosted on SITE|SAFETYNET℠, POSI’s proprietary assessment engine, and is available now at protectingourstudents.org/pilot-program.
What the Pilot Covers
Participation gives school administrators access to all four levels of the Comprehensive Assessment Framework℠ (CAF℠):
- Level 1 — Walk-Through Assessments℠ (WTA): Exterior perimeter, access control, parking, and lighting — then interior classroom safety, hallway protocols, and emergency routes.
- Level 2 — Behavioral Assessments℠ (BA): Threat assessment and violence prevention, mental health supports and crisis pathways, and bullying climate and restorative practices.
- Level 3 — Safety Partnership Assessments℠ (SPA): Police partnerships, joint training, first responder integration, PTA collaboration, and community engagement.
- Level 4 — Comprehensive Systems & Security Assessments℠ (CSSA): Network security, video surveillance, alarm systems, emergency communications, and cybersecurity posture.
Together, these four levels span 94 Safety Zones℠ — each scored 0–100 — producing a single Dynamic Safety Score℠ that becomes a measurable, improvable baseline for every participating school.
Why a Pilot — and Why Now
POSI was founded on a straightforward premise: school safety has never had a verifiable national standard. Districts have operated on checklists, compliance requirements, and best guesses — without any framework that translates safety practices into comparable, trackable data.
The pilot program is the first structured rollout of that framework in the field. Participation is intentionally limited. This isn’t a mass rollout — it’s a deliberate first deployment with school districts willing to go through the full assessment process, generate real scores, and help refine the delivery of a standard that is designed to eventually reach all 130,000+ U.S. K–12 schools through SafeSchoolMAP℠.
“Every school in America deserves the same baseline of protection — regardless of zip code,” said Robert Jordan, Founder and CEO of POSI. “This pilot is where the standard meets the ground.”
Who Should Apply
The pilot is open to K–12 school / districts ready to take an honest, structured look at their safety posture across all four levels. No prior experience with POSI’s framework is required. Assessments are completed by school administrators and safety staff through the SITE|SAFETYNET℠ platform and are entirely self-directed.
Districts interested in pilot participation can begin immediately at the link below — or contact POSI directly to discuss district-wide implementation.
