Mission & Impact · Protecting Our Students, Inc.

We Built the Standard.
Now We're Spreading It.

One framework. Every school. 50 million students.

Protecting Our Students, Inc. is the nonprofit that established America's first standardized K–12 school safety framework — the measurement system, the scoring methodology, and the improvement pathway that every school in the country can now access.

Our Mission
"Protecting Our Students sets the national standard for school safety. We measure, score, and improve every school — so every community knows its children are protected."

We believe safety shouldn't depend on a zip code. Every child — regardless of where they go to school — deserves the same baseline of protection. That's not a slogan. It's the operational standard we've built and are deploying nationwide.

The Problem We're Solving
School Safety in America
Has No Shared Standard.

Billions are spent annually on K–12 school safety. Yet no consistent measurement framework exists. Every school approaches safety differently — assessed inconsistently, managed reactively, and invisible to the families who depend on it. POSI was founded to close that gap.

📂
Fragmented & Inconsistent
Safety data lives across hundreds of disconnected checklists and systems. No two schools measure safety the same way. No one can compare, benchmark, or track progress against a national standard. There is no common language for school safety in America.
⏱️
Reactive, Not Preventive
Most schools only address safety after an incident. Annual compliance plans create a false sense of readiness. Real safety requires continuous measurement — not a once-a-year review filed away for auditors and forgotten until something goes wrong.
🔍
Invisible to Families
98% of parents research school safety before enrolling — yet most school websites offer no verifiable safety information. Families are left guessing. Without a standard, there is nothing credible to show them.
"Safety shouldn't be a feeling. It should be a fact. POSI built the infrastructure to make that true — for every school in America."

What POSI Delivers
Three Outcomes.
Every School We Serve.

Every POSI engagement produces the same three results — regardless of school size, budget, or geography. This is what the standard delivers in practice.

🔍
Risks Identified Early
Our 94-Point Safety Zones℠ framework uncovers vulnerabilities that annual checklists miss entirely. Physical gaps, behavioral blind spots, coordination failures — identified before they become incidents. Schools see exactly where they stand, zone by zone.
📊
Safety Made Measurable
The Dynamic Safety Score℠ gives every school a verified, comparable number. Not a subjective rating. Not a compliance checkbox. A real score that updates as conditions change — giving administrators, families, and stakeholders a clear, honest picture of readiness.
📈
Continuous Improvement
Safety isn't a one-time event. The POSI framework is built for reassessment — tracking progress, documenting gains, and ensuring improvements stick. Schools don't just get a report. They get a system that keeps safety improving all year long.
