School safety in the United States has a transparency problem.
Most schools have no public-facing safety commitment. No documented emergency protocols. No way for parents to see whether the school their child attends is actually keeping pace with national safety standards. That information has always existed — it just hasn’t been easy to find.

(POSI) has launched a free school safety search tool on our website, giving parents, administrators, and community members the ability to search any K–12 school in the United States and immediately access publicly available safety information — including whether that school has been assessed by POSI and where it stands against the national standard.

WHAT IS THE SCHOOL SEARCH TOOL?
The POSI School Search tool allows anyone to search over 130,000 K–12 schools across the United States by name, district, or ZIP code. Once you find a school, you are taken directly to that school’s safety profile page — a dedicated page that consolidates everything publicly known about that school’s safety posture in one place.
Every school profile includes:
— School Info & Contact Details: Basic information sourced from SchoolDigger, including address, grades served, enrollment, and district.
— POSI Assessment Status: Has this school been formally assessed by Protecting Our Students, Inc.? If yes, when and at what level?
— Dynamic Safety Score℠ (DSS): Schools that have completed a POSI assessment receive a Dynamic Safety Score℠ — a standardized, measurable score reflecting their current safety posture across all assessed zones.
— Safety Page Status: Does this school have a public-facing safety page on their website? Parents increasingly expect to find this information. Our tool tells you whether it exists.

3. Select your state and enter your school name, district, or ZIP code
4. Click Search
5. Select your school from the results to view the full safety profile
If your school is not yet assessed, you will see the option to request a free POSI safety assessment directly from the profile page.
